               จำไม่ได้ว่าข้ามไปฝั่งเกาะยังไร แต่ที่จดจำได้คือ ความงดงามของอาคารเก่าแก่ของธนาคาร พวกเราไม่มีโอกาสเข้าไปเพราะเป็นวันหยุดราชการ ได้ถ่ายรูปเป็นที่ระลึกหน้าอาคารก็พอใจ หลังจากนั้นได้เดินทางกลับไปที่หัวเมืองสงขลา  ถ้าหากจำไม่ผิดพลาดนั่งรถผ่านตลาดใหญ่ของเมืองสงขลาจะอยู่ทางซ้ายมือ ทางขวามือผ่านโรงหนังภาพยนตร์เล็กๆ ผู้คนยังไม่มากเหมือนสมัยนี้ ถึงสี่แยกรถเลี้ยวซ้ายเพียงนิดเดียวก็จะพบกับทะเลสาบสงขลา แต่รถของเราเลี้ยวขวาเข้าไปในโรงเรียนเก่าๆ เดิมเป็นโรงเรียนสอนช่างไม้ อีกฝากตรงข้ามเป็นที่อู่ซ่อมเครื่องเรือ

             บ้านหลังแรกที่รถเลี้ยวขวาเป็นเรือนไม้สองชั้นที่พักของพี่สาวและพี่เขย  ชั้นบนมีสามห้องนอน ชั้นล่างมีหนึ่งห้องนอน สำหรับข้าราชการที่ยังไม่มีครอบครัว พวกเราพักกันอยู่ชั้นบนทั้งหมด มีบันไดขึ้นหน้าบ้านผ่านห้องแรกของชั้นบนติดกับระเบียง ห้องที่สองเป็นห้องมุมติดกับถนน ส่วนห้องที่สามชั้นบนที่พวกเราพักจะมีบันไดขึ้นด้านหลัง วิวทิวทัศน์ดีมาก มีเรือจอดเรียงกันเป็นแถว มีข้อเสียคือเป็นที่หักศอก เสียงรถและเรือดังมาก   เสียงประทัดส่งเสียงดังย่อมหมายถึงการเดินเรือ หรือพิธีกรรมของชาวเรือในทะเลสาปสงขลา คนกรุงเทพฯอย่างเราคุ้นเคยแต่เสียงวูดเรือดังในแถบแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยา ปัจจุบันนี้เสียงวูดเรือดังไม่มีให้เราได้ยินมานานแสนนาน

            รถที่วิ่งบนถนนเรียบทะเลสาปหลังเรือนที่เราพักดูจะน้อยกว่าเรือ เห็นภาพเรือสลับกันเข้าและออกวนเวียนน่าสวยงาม ไม่เหมือนกับรถบนถนนในสมัยนี้ คนงานบนเรือเดินกันพลุกพล่านริมถนนข้างเรือนที่พักในตอนหัวค่ำ พวกคนเรือจะไม่ค่อยสนใจพวกเรามากนัก เพราะเป็นสถานที่ราชการ มีคนเรือหลายคนนั่งซ่อมอวนจับปลา มีปลาตากแดดริมถนนติดทะเลสาปไม่มากนัก

            หากจะสังเกตุบ้านพักหลังนี้อยู่ในสักษณะมุมหักศอก ถนนตัดริมทะเลสาปเป็นมุมพอดี ประกอบกับมีทะเลสาปขนานกับถนนด้วย พี่สาวบอกว่า สองห้องหักมุมเคยนอนอยู่หลายครั้ง นอนก็ไม่หลับ เหมือนมีคนมายืนจ้องมองตลอดเวลา ต้องมานอนห้องแรกติดระเบียงบันไดหน้า ไม่ตั้งใจจะให้คุณตานอน แต่คุณตาบอกว่า ไม่เป็นปัญหา นอนได้ เรื่องของผีสางนางไม้ไม่กลัวมันหรอก อายุคุณตาเจ็ดสิปปีแล้ว ผ่านอะไรมามากมาย มาอยู่เมืองไทยตั้งแต่อายุสิปสามปี เป็นที่ตกลงคุณตาขอนอนห้องที่สอง ยามค่ำคืนพวกเราพักห้องติดกับคุณตา คุยกันจนดึกแต่แปลกใจได้ยินเสียงคุณตาคุยกับใครกัน คิดจะเดินไปดูก็ไม่ได้ ต้องผ่านห้องของพี่สาวและพี่เขย จะลงด้านล่างเพื่ออ้อมไปขึ้นบันไดหน้า ก็ไม่รู้ว่าจะเปิดไฟตรงไหน พวกพี่ๆก็ตัดสินใจเรียกพี่สาวจากห้องตรงกลาง

           พีสาวที่รับราชการที่สงขลา บอกว่าไม่มีอะไร ไฟก็ดับในห้องคุณตา หรืออาจจะสวดมนตร์ ด้วยความอ่อนเพลียจากการเดินทาง ทุกคนก็หลับสนิทในคืนนั้น เช้าวันรุ่งขึ้น คุณตาทำไมตื่นสายจัง พวกเราเตรียมพร้อมจะออกไปเดินเที่ยวเล่นริมทะเลสาป  น่าจะผิดปกติสักอย่าง คุณตาไม่เคยนอนตื่นสาย รอคอยสักพักหนึ่งจะดีกว่า เสียงประตูห้องเปิดแง้มออกมา พวกเราเริ่มดีใจ คุณตาไม่เป็นไร นึกว่าคุณตาป่วยจากการเดินทาง อากาศร้อนชึ้นแบบนี้ ไม่เหมือนกับทางบ้านเราที่กรุงเทพฯ กลางคืนอากาศเย็นสบาย แต่กลางวันอากาศร้อนพอสมควร ความร้อนของบ้านเราไม่เหมือนกับทางภาคใต้ ทางกรุงเทพฯร้อนแบบแห้งแล้ง ในยามค่ำคืนก็ต่างกัน 

          พวกเรารีบร้อนด้วยความอยากจะไปเดินรอบทะเลสาป สีหน้าคุณตาเดินลงมาจากบันไดลงสู่ชั้นล่างด้วยความอ่อนเพลีย  สายตามองมาที่พวกเราพร้อมกับส่ายหน้า สำเนียงการพูดภาษาอังกฤษผสมกับภาษามาลายูของคุณตาดูช้าลงมาก เมื่อคืนไม่ได้นอนเกือบทั้งคืน กว่าจะได้นอนก็เกือบใกล้พระอาทิตย์จะขึ้น พี่สาวจูงมือคุณตาไปเข้าห้องน้ำ หลายคนแปลกใจ แต่ผมยังเด็กเกินไปที่จะเข้าใจ ก้มหน้านึกในใจว่า วันนี้อดเที่ยวทะเลสาปสงขลาแน่นอน พวกเราทุกคนนั่งลงบนพื้นหญ้าหน้าบ้าน รอคอยคุณตาอาบน้ำแต่งตัว สักพักหนึ่งท่านก็เรียกกลุ่มพวกเราขึ้นไปที่หน้าห้องนอนของท่าน  

          ใกล้หน้าห้อง เป็นจุดที่คุณตาชี้ว่า ต้องนั่งคุยกับหญิงสาวคนหนึ่งอยู่เกือบทั้งคืน ง่วงนอน อยากจะนอน หญิงสาวก็ชวนคุยหลายเรื่อง สายตาของพี่สาวและพี่เขยพุ่งตรงไปที่เสาเรือนต้นที่มีสีดำเป็นทางยาว มีน้ำมันเกาะติดอยู่ด้วย ผมยังจำภาพเสาตกน้ำมันได้ว่า มันเป็นมุมที่มืดถึงแม้พระอาทิตย์จะส่องเข้ามา ในยามค่ำคืน ผมและกลุ่มพี่ที่เดินทางไปครั้งนี้เดินขึ้นไปดูเสาตกน้ำมัน แสงไฟหลอดกลมในสมัยก่อนทำให้พวกเรามองเห็นเสาตกน้ำมันช่างน่ากลัว คุณตายืนยันขอนอนห้องนี้ในค่ำคืนต่อมา ผมไม่สามารถจดจำเรื่องราวในคืนต่อมาได้ว่า คุณตายังนั่งคุยกับหญิงสาวอีกหรือไหม 

         หลังจากนั้นพี่สาวและพี่เขยก็นำดอกไม้หนึ่งกำมือขึ้นไปผูกโยงไว้กับเสาตกน้ำมันในวันที่พวกเราเดินทางกลับบ้านที่กรุงเทพฯ     

อาหารอินเดียในกรุงเทพฯ เจมัวที่หาซื้อมาทานได้ยาก

          เจมัว เป็นอาหารว่างของทางอินเดีย ค่อนข้างจะทำยากลำบาก เพราะวัตถุดิบที่ใช้หายากมาก เช่น หัวนมแท้  ขณะนี้ไม่มีผู้ทำขายให้เห็นอีกแล้ว สิ่งที่ยากอันดับสอง ช่วงที่ทอดนั้น หากเจมัวจมลง ย่อมหมายถึงความผิดพลาด 

         เคยได้ยิน และคุ้นเคย มีการเรียกอาหารชนิดนี้ว่า กุหลาบเจมัว น่าจะนำมาจากเมืองหนึ่งในประเทศอินเดีย 

         ประเทศไทยของเราโชคดี ที่ได้วัฒนธรรมอาหารอินเดียเข้ามาบ้าง เพราะชาวอินเดียเข้าตั้งรุกรากปักฐานในบริเวณกรุงเทพฯ มาช้านาน ทางด้านรสชาด จะมันเพราะมีส่วนประกอบของนมที่มีมากกว่า หากจะหารับประทานได้ในขณะนี้ ก็เห็นจะต้องรอคอยงานประเพณีที่สำคัญของชาวมุสลิมเขตในเมืองกรุงเทพฯ  สาเหตุที่ชาวมุสลิมได้รับการถ่ายทอดการทำอาหาร น่าจะมาจากมีพื้นที่พักอาศัยอยู่ใกล้เคียงกัน 

          

กุหลาบยามูน เป็นอีกชื่อหนึ่งที่คนไทยตั้งชื่อขนมนี้

มีการใส่นมข้น บนหน้าของขนม บางแห่งวางเมล็ดอัลมอนด์ไว้ด้านบน

วิธีทำ

1.โขลกพริกไทยกระเทียมรากผักชีให้ละเอียด

2. นำปีกไก่กับพริกไทยกระเทียมรากผักชีและแม๊กกี้ หมักประมาณ 1/2 ชม.

3. ทอดปีกไก่ให้เหลืองตักขึ้น

4. เจียวหรือทอดกระเทียมพอเหลือง ใส่ขิงสับ ซอสมะเขือเทศ แม๊กกี้ น้ำตาลทรายให้เข้ากัน ใส่แป้งข้าวโพดละลายน้ำ คนให้ทั่ว

5.นำปีกไก่ที่ทอดไว้ลงคลุกเคล้าในซอสให้ทั่วปีกไก่ แล้วใส่เหล้าจีนลงไป 

6. ตักขึ้นใส่ภาชนะจานรองด้วยผักกาดหอม โรยผักชีให้มีรสชาดและดูสวยงาม 

         เทคนิคในการทำอาหารให้มีรสชาดที่ดี 

ครั้งนี้เป็นครั้งแรกที่จะนำเสนอเทคนิคในการทำอาหาร มีหลายคนอาจจะสงสัยทำไม ทำอาหารเสร็จเรียบร้อยแล้ว รสชาดไม่เข้าท่า เข้าทางเหมือนพ่อครัว แม่ครัวทำ ที่ร้านอาหารบางร้านก็มีเครื่องปรุงเหมือนกับที่ท่านทำที่บ้าน  เคล็ดลับบางอย่างเจ้าของร้านจะไม่บอก ถือเป็นความลับทางธุรกิจ ขณะนี้หรือปัจจุบันนี้ เจ้าของร้านจะไม่ให้ลูกจ้างได้เห็นกรรมวิธีหรือส่วนผสม ยกเว้นให้เห็นเฉพาะในผู้สืบทอดกิจการเท่านั้น ผมจะบอกแนวทางเบื้องต้น ท่านต้องนำไปประยุกต์เอง

วิธีทำไก่ให้มีรสชาดดี ก่อนจะนำปีกไก่ไปลงหมัก ให้สังเกตุปีกไก่ จะหมักไก่ให้ได้เนื้อในปีกไก่มีส่วนผสมซึมลึกภายใน ต้องมีวิธีสังเกตุสักหน่อย อย่างที่สองภาชนะหมักก็มีส่วน การทอดก็มีวิธีเช่นกัน

เนื่องในวันรำลึกถึงพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราช ได้ลงเหรียญพระเจ้าตากจำนวนสามเหรียญพร้อมกับเงินโบราณ เพื่อเป็นเกียรติแก่คนไทยและเพื่อน แต่ไม่สามารถขึ้นบนสังคมออนไลน์ของ FACEBOOK ได้ มีการปล่อยให้โหลดเป็นเวลานาน พยายามจะให้เพื่อนๆในสังคมออนไลน์ได้รำลึกถึงคุณงามความดีของท่าน การทำลักษณะนี้ย่อมมีความหมายที่ซ่อนเร้น

ในวันที่ 28 ธ.ค.ของทุกปีคนไทยยังคงรำลึกถึงคุณงามความดีของวีรบุรุษผู้สร้างชาติไทย ได้พยายามลงรูปเหรียญที่ระลึกของพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราชพร้อมด้วยเงินโบราณเป็นฐานตั้งแต่ช่วงเช้า กลางวัน และกลางคืน แต่เฟรสบุคสังคมออนไลน์กลับดำเนินการกลั่นแกล้งไม่ยอมปล่อยรูปให้เพื่อนๆได้เห็น และนึกถึงสมเด็จพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราข

ไม่ทราบด้วยเหตุผลประการใด จึงมีจิตใจคับแคบ ไร้จิตสำนึก

จึงได้ลงประกาศไว้ให้คนไทยและคนต่างชาติที่เข้าใจประวัติศาสตร์ของคนไทยรับทราบไว้

คำสอนของพ่อสมัยยังมีชีวิตอยู่ที่ไม่เคยลืม เข้าสวนเข้าป่าดง จะทำอะไรให้บอกเจ้าป่าเจ้าเขา ยืนฉี่ก็ต้องบอกกล่าว ไม่ว่าญาติพี่น้องที่นับถือศาสนาไหนก็ตาม บอกกล่าวขอให้ช่วยคุ้มครอง ถึงแม้พวกเราจะเรียนมาทางวิทยาศาสตร์รวมทั้งตัวผมด้วย เรื่องทางไสยศาสตร์มันพิสูจน์ได้ยาก หากไม่เชื่อก็อย่าไปลบหลู่ แม่บังเกิดกล้ารีบบอกกล่าวว่า เคยเห็นคนที่เล่นและเรียนมาทางไสยศาสตร์ในทางที่ดีก็มี แต่เขาจะไม่บอกให้ใครรู้ บางคนที่ได้รับถ่ายทอดมาจากผู้ใหญ่ทางไสยศาสตร์นำไปเพื่อหวังผลประโยชน์ อายุจะสั้นลง ถ้าโชคดีหน่อยชีวิตบั้นปลายก็เป็นคนเสียสติ เวลาใกล้จะตายต้องทนทุกข์ทรมาน  ให้ทุกข์แก่คนอื่นถึงเวลามันหวนกลับมาหาตัว  แม่เห็นมาแล้ว ไสยศาสตร์ไม่ใช่เรื่องของการเล่นกลนะลูก 

ที่ท่านเตือนลักษณะแบบนี้ อาจจะเพราะว่าผมต้องเดินผ่านป่าช้าถึงสองแห่งเพื่อไปบ้านน้าสาวใหญ่ในตอนค่ำเป็นประจำ คนในกรุงเทพฯสมัยนั้นใครได้ยินชื่อป่าช้าสองแห่งนี้ มีอันต้องกลัวกันทั้งนั้น ยามดึกเปิดหน้าต่างหลังบ้านแอบมองหาบ้านเพื่อนในป่าช้า ได้ยินเสียงรถดังสนั่น ขนเอาหีบศพร่างไร้วิญญาณมาวางสี่ห้าโรงศพ น้าสาวใหญ่ไล่ให้ไปล้างหน้า ทำให้นึกถึงสัปเหร่อที่รู้จักกันตั้งแต่เด็กๆ เพื่อนสัปเหร่อมีบ้านพักอยู่ท่ามกลางร่างไร้วิญญาณ ผมมักจะเห็นเพื่อนท่องบทสวดมนตร์ก่อนทำงานกับร่างไร้วิญญาณบ่อยครั้ง หลายครั้งที่เราคุยกันจนดึกดื่นท่ามกลางป่าช้าที่อยู่ใกล้บ้าน ครอบครัวของสัปเหร่อบอกผมว่า หากมีคนแปลกหน้าไม่ว่าจะเป็นหญิงหรือชายมาร่วมวงคุยด้วยกัน อย่าได้ตกใจ ให้สังเกตุดูที่เท้าคนแปลกหน้า พยายามมีสติไว้ให้ได้ ทำตัวให้ปกติ ต้องคิดอยู่เสมอว่า ธรรมดาของคนที่ตายแล้วอาจจะยังไม่รู้สึกตัว แต่จิตยังวนเวียนอยู่ใกล้ร่างกาย พวกผมที่อาศัยอยู่บริเวณนี้จึงเข้าใจเรื่องนี้ดี นอกจากนั้นยังเข้าใจครอบครัวสัปเหร่อ ต้องมีวิชาไสยศาสตร์สาย มนตร์ขาวเพื่อป้องกันตัว 

ทุกครั้งที่เราวิ่งเล่นหรือเดินข้ามหลุมศพ จิตใจของพวกเราจะขอโทษร่างเหล่านั้น ยิ่งพระอาทิตย์ใกล้ลับขอบฟ้า วงเด็กที่เล่นก็แตกกระเจิงเดินกลับบ้าน มีหลายครั้งดึกดื่นมาก จะมีญาติสี่ห้าคนมาขอขุดศพ มันเป็นเรื่องที่แปลกประหลาดมาก มีคนมารบกวนร่างไร้วิญญาณในยามดึกดื่น ผมแอบมองช่องเล็กๆของหน้าต่างแบบโบราณ เห็นพ่อและเพื่อนสัปเหร่ออยู่ในวงนั้นด้วย นักโบราณคดีต่างประเทศที่ไปรบกวนร่างไร้วิญญาณยังพบจุดจบมาแล้ว การบุกรุกหลุมศพที่นักบวชทำพิธีไว้ เป็นมนตร์ดำแห่งความชั่วร้ายขนาดไหน เราคงจะเห็นหรือได้อ่านเรื่องที่ต่างประเทศบอกถึงจุดจบชีวิตของผู้รบกวนมามากมาย แต่ร่างไร้วิญญาณที่ผมกล่าวมาข้างต้น ยังไม่ได้ผ่านพิธีสวด รอวันเวลาทำพิธีสวดมนตร์ใหญ่ร่วมกัน แน่นอนว่า ที่ผมเห็นจะต้องมาทำพิธีหวังผลได้จาก มนตร์ดำ  

 ผมเคยคุยกับนักโบราณคดีที่มีชื่อเสียงของไทยคนหนึ่งซึ่งเปิดร้านขายของโบราณเก่าในโรงแรมใจกลางกรุงเมื่อราวสามสิบกว่าปีที่ผ่านมา ได้รับซื้อของมาชิ้นหนึ่ง นำเข้ามาไว้เพื่อขายในร้าน ทุกวันที่อยู่ร้านค้า มักจะได้ยินเสียงมีบางอย่างกระแทกพื้นไม้ของร้านเป็นประจำ เสียงของมันในเวลากลางวันกลางคืนไม่แตกต่างกันนัก ด้วยประสบการณ์ชีวิตเจ้าของร้านที่ผ่านมากับการอยู่กับของโบราณแท้ๆย่อมรู้แล้วว่ากำลังเผชิญกับเรื่องของมนตร์ดำแน่นอน เหตุุผลที่อ้างว่าพื้นไม้เบียดกัน ข้อนี้เลิกคิดได้เพราะเป็นร้านชั้นเดียว พิ้นไม้สร้างมาเพื่อป้องกันการเลื่อนตัว ด้านข้างหนึ่งเป็นตึกสูง อีกสองข้างเป็นที่โล่งสำหรับจอดรถ ด้านสุดท้ายไม่ห่างกันมากนักกลับกลายเป็นที่ศักดิ์สิทธิ เป็นศาลเพียงตามีปลัดขลิกจำนวนมาก ผู้คนมานมัสการไม่ขาดสาย คิดว่าของโบราณชิ้นนี้น่าจะได้พลังเสริมจากจุดนี้  ไม่นานเท่าไรเจ้าของเดิมกลับมาขอซื้อของโบราณชิ้นนั้นกลับไปจากนักโบราณคดีเจ้าของร้าน 

มนตร์ดำเมื่อสามสิบกว่าปี รายการโทรทัศน์ที่ถ่ายทำเรื่องราวของทรัพย์สมบัติในอียิปต์ให้ชาวไทยได้ชม กว่าจะถ่ายทำได้ก็ต้องพบกับอุปสรรคและการสูญเสียจำนวนมาก เจ้าของรายการผู้มากประสบการณ์รุ่นเดียวกับคุณแม่ผม ถึงกับอึ้งถึงความอาถรรพณ์คงจะมีจริง เพียงเริ่มต้นออกรายการเรื่องราวความเล้นลับในประเทศอียิปต์ ระบบไฟฟ้าก็ระเบิดทันที หลายปีตลอดชีวิตของเจ้าของรายการพบเห็นความอาถรรพณ์เข้าจริง

ความเชื่อในเรื่องมนตร์ดำเป็นเรื่องส่วนตัวของแต่ละคนที่จะพิจารณา สำหรับตัวผมได้สัมผัสและเห็นเหตุการณ์ด้วยตัวเอง พี่สาวนั่งคุยกับรูปภาพรัชกาลที่ห้า สักพักหนึ่งก็หันมาทางผมซึ่งเป็นน้องชายว่า เธอโชคดีมากมีผู้หญิงร่างเล็กคอยคุ้มกันอยู่ทางขวามือ ท่าทางจะมาจากทางใต้ เจ้าหญิงผู้น่ารัก   

ชั่งโชคดีหรือโชคร้าย มนตร์ดำทางไสยศาสตร์ไม่สามารถเข้าหาตัวผมได้ แต่เจ้ามนตร์ดำวิ่งเข้าหาพี่หนู พี่สาวเกิดก่อนผมสองปี ลักษณะ อาการ ของพี่สาว จะนั่งนิ่ง สายตามองขึ้นบน พูดคุยคนเดียว พี่ๆของผมเรียนทางวิทยศาสตร์รวมทั้งตัวผมด้วย ไม่มีใครเชื่อเรื่องทางไสยศาสตร์

ผมได้เดินทางกลับจากปักษ์ใต้มาบ้านเกิดเมืองนอนในกรุงเทพฯสักสองปีหลังจากจบการศึกษา พี่สาวคนที่แปดซึ่งเกิดก่อนผมสองปี  เริ่มบ่นคิดอยากจะลาออกจากการสอนหนังสือในโรงเรียนที่มีคริสต์จักรเป็นเจ้าของ ครูที่แห่งนี้นับถือคริสต์ทั้งนั้น ต่อมาไม่นานหลังจากพี่สาวลาออกจากการสอนหนังสือ อาการของสายตาที่ล่องลอยบนท้องฟ้าและเลื่อนลงมาสู่พื้นมีบ่อยครั้ง พี่ๆหลายคนต้องพาไปโรงพยาบาลหลายแห่ง แต่ก็ไร้ผล พี่สะไภ้คนแรกไปปรึกษาญาติทางพุธ มั่นใจว่าต้องได้รับมนตร์ดำที่ใครส่งมา พี่สาวทั้งหกคนและเครือญาติเริ่มสงสัยและกินใจแคลงใจ ความมุ่งร้ายครั้งนี้กระทำในช่วงนี้หลังจากพ่อแม่ได้ตายมาหลายปี หากท่านทั้งสองยังมีชีวิตอยู่ คงจะแก้ไขไม่ยาก พอจะเสาะหา หรือค้นหาขอร้องผู้ช่วยเหลือทางไสยศาสตร์สายมนตร์ขาวได้ ผู้ใหญ่ที่เหลืออยู่ขณะนี้น้าสาวใหญ่ก็มุ่งแต่ธุรกิจ การค้าขายเสียมากกว่า แต่น้าสาวใหญ่ก็มีความกังวลพอควร พี่สาวซึ่งถูกมนตร์ดำเปรียบเสมือนมือหนึ่งที่ช่วยเหลือทางการค้าขาย ส่วนผมเป็นมือรองที่ช่วยเหลือทางธุรกิจ 

มันเป็นแรงอิจฉาริษยาเพื่อต้องการอะไรบางอย่าง น่าจะมาจากพี่ของผมทั้งแปดคน ทุกคนสามารถสอบเข้ามหาวิทยาลัยของรัฐได้หมดและมีหน้าที่การงานที่ดี ประเด็นนี้เป็นความคิดส่วนตัวของผมเอง  พี่สาวและพี่ชายทั้งแปดคนกลับมีความคิดที่แตกต่างจากผม ทุกคนมุ่งมองประเด็นแรงอิจฉานี้พุ่งมาที่ผม โดยให้เหตุผลตรงกันว่า คนที่ส่งมนตร์ดำมาต้องเคลียดและแค้นใจอย่างเหลือจะทนได้ น่าจะมาจากการที่ผมปฎิเสธการแต่งงานหลังจากเรียนจบ มันเป็นการผิดสัญญาของผู้ใหญ่ทีทำไว้ตั้งแต่ผมยังเด็ก ฝ่ายหญิงทั้งสามฝ่ายต้องแค้นใจมาก แผนการนี้ไม่ใช่มุ่งหวังเพียงงานแต่งงานอย่างเดียวเท่านั้น การเกื้อหนุนทางธุรกิจ การค้าย่อมส่งผลกระทบกับฝ่ายหญิงทั้งสามอย่างมาก และที่สำคัญไม่แพ้กันคือ ความมั่นใจของฝ่ายหญิง ผมนั้นมีความสามารถนำให้ครอบคร้วของฝ่ายหญิงมีกำแพงป้องกันในการดำเนินธุรกิจอนาคตได้อย่างยาวนาน 

ไม่มีครั้งใดที่ผมพลาดที่จะไปดูการต่อสู้กับมนตร์ดำ พวกกลุ่มพี่ๆของผมบังคับนักหนา ผมจะต้องร่วมดูการทำพิธีแก้ไข ถอดถอนมนตร์ดำออกจากร่างของพี่สาวคนที่แปด ยังจดจำการต่อสู้มนตร์ดำครั้งใหญ่ได้สามสี่ครั้งเสมอ ทั้งสามครั้งการแก้ไขมนตร์ดำพวกเราทั้งหมดต้องข้ามฝากฝั่งแม่น้ำ ผู้ทำพิธีแก้ไขดูหน้าเชื่อถือ เพราะเข้าไปในบ้านเรือนไม้ที่มีผู้คนอยู่ร่วมทำหลายคน เราต้องรอคอยอยู่นาน เห็นเหตุการณ์ก่อนหน้าที่มีบุคคลอื่นทำการแก้ไขมนตร์ดำ มีความรู้สึกว่า ผู้ทำพิธีดูอ่อนล้ามาก เหมือนคนใกล้จะหมดแรง ได้ยินเสียงคนทรงสั่งให้ไม่รับงานเพิ่ม ปิดประตูบ้านด้วย คนทรงแก้ไขมนตร์ดำมีสายตามาที่พี่สาวคนที่แปด เหมือนจะรู้ล่วงหน้ากำลังจะต่อสู้กับอำนาจทางไสยศาสตร์ที่ไม่อาจจะพิสูจน์ได้เมื่อเที่ยบกับทางวิทยาสตร์ หลังจากนั้นสายตาก็เลื่อนมามองที่ตัวผมพร้อมกับพูดว่า เจ้าหนุ่มโชคดีที่มีคนคุ้มกันอยู่ทางขวามือ   ผมเริ่มคิดแล้วว่าเพื่อนที่ผมรักมากที่อยู่แดนไกลแน่นอน สาวแห่งเมืองปักษ์ใต้ที่ผมเอื้อมมือไปไม่ถึงเธอ พี่สาวคนที่สองจ้องมองตรงมาด้วยสายตาที่ไม่พอใจเพราะพี่สาวคนนี้เคยรับไหวจากสาวเมืองใต้  ในใจของผมไม่คิดโกรธพี่สาวสักนิด ผู้บงการพี่สาวให้เกลียดเธอเป็นใครผมก็รู้

พิธีเริ่มต้นด้วยผู้ทรงแก้ไขมนตร์ดำ เข้าไปอาบน้า หลังจากนั้นก็นำน้ำมาลาดใส่พี่สาวคนที่แปด ซึ่งนั่งตรงขัดตะหมาดอยู่หลายครั้ง ข้างๆของพิธีมีบายศรีรอบข้าง กลิ่นของธูปเที่ยนปกคลุมไปรอบข้าง ความเหนื่อยล้า อ่อนเพลียของคนทรงแก้ไขมนตร์ดำมองได้เด่นชัด สีหน้าดำคล้ำไปทั่วร่าง หยุดพักอยู่ครู่หนึ่งแล้วหันมาพูดคุยกับกลุ่มพี่สาวผู้ติดตามรวมทั้งตัวผมด้วย คำอธิบายจากปากผู้มีมนตร์ขาว เล่าว่า มนตร์ดำที่ติดร่างของพี่สาวผมนั้น ไม่ใช่มาจากเขมร มันมาจากทางสายอินเดีย ของมนตร์ดำขึ้นประทับร่างพี่สาวคนที่แปดทั้งซ้ายมือและขวามือ ลักษณะเข้า ร่างขึ้นประทับเหนือไหล่ทั้งสองแล้วก็ออกไป สลับกันแบบนี้ คงจะต้องนำร่างทรงออกหมดก็ต้องกลับมาทำอีกอย่างน้อยสองครั้งหน้า ที่เห็นทำพีธีเมื่อสักครู่เป็นการทำพิธีเพื่อให้เห็นว่า มีมนตร์ดำอยู่ตรงจุดไหนบ้าง ต่อไปก็จะเป็นพิธีนำร่างทรงซ้ายขวาออกไปบางส่วน ขอให้ทุกคนที่นั่งอยู่ในที่นี้สงบนิ่ง มีสิ่งใดหรือเห็นสิ่งใดให้อยู่สงบ 

คำอธิบายของผู้มีมนตร์ขาวทำให้ความบริสุทธจากการให้ร้าย ความแคลงใจ ที่พี่สาวบางคนของผมคิดร้ายต่อเงาสาวที่ติดตามผมอยู่ทางขวามือลดลงทันที ผมเริ่มภาวนาจิตใจ ขอวิงวอนเงาสาวจากแดนใต้ทางขวามือ ขอให้เงาสาวจากเมืองปักษ์ใต้ทางขวามือที่รักผม ซึ่งคอยช่วยผมมาตลอดหลายครั้ง จงโปรดช่วยเป็นพลังขับให้พี่สาวคนที่แปดของผมหายจาการได้รับมนตร์ดำด้วยเถิด ชาวบ้านแถวนี้ยังเห็นร่างสาวทางขวามือผม แต่ผมกลับไม่สามารถเดินทางลงใต้ไปหาเธอได้ตามที่สัญญาไว้ ยังคิดอยู่ตลอดเวลา เธอเปรียบเสมือนเจ้าหญิงแห่งเมืองปักษ์ใต้ของผมคนเดียวทีอยู่ในใจผมนิรันดร ก่อนวันที่เราสองคนจะแยกกัน ทั้งสองคนยังยืนอยู่ใต้ต้นสนต้นแรกในสนเก้าต้นที่สูงสง่าในดินแดนปักษ์ใต้ที่ไกลแสนไกลเป็นระยะทางหนึ่งพันกิโลเมตร ณ วันนี้ไม่มีต้นสนให้ผมได้เห็นอีกแล้ว มันอาจจะล้มตาย หายไปพร้อมกับคำผิดสัญญาว่า ผมจะกลับมาหาเธอ

ผู้มีมนตราขาวเดินไปหยิบมีดดาบยาวสองเล่ม นำมาวางเป็นรูปกากบาทด้านหลังของพี่สาวคนที่แปดซึ่งนั่งสงบและเปียกไปด้วยน้ำที่ถูกลาดเต็มตัว ท่าทางของผู้ทรงมนตราขาว ร่ายรำอยู่ด้านหลังของร่างพี่สาวที่มีมนตราดำ ฝีปากก็ร่ายคาถาสวดมนตร์ มีดในมือฟาดฟันลมสลับไปมาอยู่นาน พักต่อมาก็มีท่าทางมีดในมือเริ่มเปลี่ยนทิศทางไปทางซ้ายและขวาของร่างพี่สาวทีมีมนตราดำ ทันใดนั้น ทุกคนที่อยู่ในพิธี เริ่มจะได้กลิ่นแปลกๆ ออกมาจากจมูก กลิ่นของมันเหม็นมาก เหมือนศพของคนที่กำลังขึ้นอืด แทบไม่น่าเชื่อว่า กลิ่นธูปหอมรอบข้างพิธีถูกกลบหายไปสิ้นเป็นเวลาเกือบสิบนาทีได้ มันเป็นจริงอย่างที่ผู้มีมนตราขาวบอกไว้ล่วงหน้า หลังเสร็จสิ้นพิธีถอดร่างทรงมนตราดำของพี่สาว ด้วยความสงสัย สอบถามผู้มีมนตราขาวถึงทำไมท่านไม่มีผู้ช่วยคอยช่วยหยิบของ ทุกอย่างในพิธีต้องทำเองหมดทุกอย่าง คำตอบเอาไว้ทำพิธีครั้งที่สองในสัปดาห์หน้า แล้วหนุ่มน้อยจะได้เข้าใจ กลับไปลองคิดดูว่าวันนี้พบอะไรบ้างระหว่างทำพิธี บางทีคำถามจะได้คำตอบระหว่างทางที่เจ้าหนุ่มน้อยเดินทางกลับ สิ่งสำคัญที่สุดก็อย่าลืมให้พี่สาวทำพิธีบายศรีรับร่างทรงทุกวันในยามค่ำคืน ไม่น่าจะเกินหนึ่งเดือนก็น่าถอดร่างมนตราดำออกได้หมด สีหน้าของกลุ่มพีสาวและผมที่ร่วมไปในพิธีดูดีขึ้น เริ่มเห็นหนทางที่พี่สาวคนที่แปดจะหายจากมนตราดำสว่างขึ้น ทุกคนก็เบื่อหน่ายที่ต้องพาไปรักษาตามโรงพยาบาลต่างๆ แล้วก็ไม่ได้ผล มาเห็นหนทางนี้แล้ว มันเป็นเรื่องแปลกจริง 

ระหว่างเดินทางกลับมาบ้านพวกเราทั้งกลุ่มข้ามฝั่งแม่น้ำเจ้าพระยา คำถามที่ผมถามผู้มีมนตราขาวก็ผ่านสมองมาทันที  คำตอบมันวิ่งมาหาให้ผมโดยไม่ต้องคิดมาก ไม่มีใครกล้าที่จะอยู่รับใช้ท่านผู้มีมนตราขาวเพราะท่านช่วยเหลือคนตกทุกข์ ย่อมจะมีภัยมืดคอยจ้องทำร้ายอยู่ตลอดเวลา กระแสจิตของผู้มีมนตราขาวยังยกตัวอย่าง มันก็เหมือนกับเจ้าหนุ่มน้อย ยามใดก็ตามที่มีสาวทางขวามือคอยคุ้มกันในยามที่มีทุกข์  ย่อมจะมีคนคิดทำร้ายเธอได้ตลอดเวลา เจ้าหญิงแห่งเมืองปักษ์ใต้จะช่วยหนุ่มน้อย แต่ตัวเธอก็ยอมรับความทุกข์มัน ไม่มีใครคอยช่วยเหลือเธอ มีแต่คนรังเกียจโดยอ้างว่า ไม่รู้จักหัวนอนปลายเท้า ญาติโยมใกล้ชิดในเชื้อสายทีพอจะสืบความก็ไม่มี อีกไม่นานนักร่างของเธอทางขวามือน่าจะค่อยๆจางหายไป หน้าที่ของหญิงทางขวามือคงจะทนทานกับพลังทีมีอยู่ต่อไปไม่ได้ เจ้าหนุ่มน้อยยังมีคำถามอยู่ในใจใช่ไหม รีบถามก่อนที่พลังจิตจะเลื่อนลาง คำถามและคำตอบในใจข้อนี้สำคัญสำหรับหนุ่มน้อยมาก

ผู้มีมนตราขาวตอบคำถามของเจ้าหนุ่มน้อยว่าจริงหรือไม่ในใจตั้งคำถามว่า จะรู้ได้อย่างไรว่าวันไหนพลังเงาร่างของหญิงสาวเมืองปักษ์ใต้หมดพลังช่วยเหลือผม  วันที่เจ้าหนุ่มน้อยพบกับตัวจริงของเธอ เงาร่างของเธอทางขวามือจะหมดไป เพราะรอบข้างของคนทั้งสองมีแรงอิจฉาริษยาในเครือญาติที่ยืนล้อมรอบไม่ห่างจากที่คนทั้งสองมากนัก เรื่องราวของเจ้าหนุ่มน้อยหลังจากที่พบกันแล้ว ยังมีอีกต่อไปภายหน้า แต่ที่ผู้มีมนตราขาวมองไม่เห็น เพราะชีวิตช่วงนั้นคงจะดับสูญไปก่อน

 หลังจากการทำพิธีถอดร่างทรงครั้งที่สองและครั้งที่สามจากการช่วยเหลือของผู้มีมนตราขาวในฝากฝั่งธนบุรี อาการของพี่หนู พี่สาวคนที่แปดก็เป็นปกติ ในตอนค่ำของทุกคืนเป็นเวลาเกือบสามเดือนที่กลุ่มพี่สาวและตัวผมมีหน้าที่สลับกันตรวจตราให้พี่สาวคนที่แปดทำบายศรีให้แก่ร่างทรงทางขวามือแลซ้ายมือตามที่ผู้มีมนตราขาวสั่งไว้ หกเดือนต่อมาพี่สาวคนที่แปดก็เดินทางไปอยู่ต่างประเทศ  ปัจจุบันนี้ก็ยังไม่กลับมาอยู่เมืองไทย
